Apple: Minimum system requirements

Typically, Apple devices receive a major operating system update once a year. Throughout the year, various updates are then made to the respective operating system.

Updating the operating system also affects the applications we develop. After several months, most of our users are on the most recent operating systems. This means that our applications will need to comply with the most recent changes. As a result, we may not always be able to support outdated operating systems.

In practice, this means that we cannot further update the app to a newer version if your device is not on a newer operating system. You may still be able to use the app, but this is at your own risk. Additionally, we may decide to no longer support the app. This means that you will also be unable to use the app on an outdated operating system.

Updating the operating system

Apple has written its own article on how to best update the operating system. You can read all about it through this article. In the article, you can learn how to check the current version and how to update the system. The article applies to both your iPhone and iPad.

Checking the app version

At the moment, we are busy developing our new and improved version of Incontrol for Apple. This is version 4, which can be downloaded separately from the store and utilizes the latest technologies. The intention is that version 3 will eventually be phased out.

You can check which version of the application you are currently using via the following steps:

  1. Open Incontrol on your device
  2. If you are not logged in yet, do so first
  3. Go to Settings
  4. Here you can find the version number. This consists of 3 digits separated by a period.

Minimum requirements for version 4

For this version, you need at least iOS 16.2 for your iPhone and iPadOS 16.2 for your iPad. If you are transitioning from version 3 to version 4, always check first which version you have on your device.

Minimum requirements for version 3

For this version, you need at least iOS 15.0 for your iPhone and iPadOS 15.0 for your iPad. If you are transitioning from version 3 to version 4, always check first which version you have on your device.

Note*: You are responsible for keeping the operating system on your device up to date. If the operating system is not updated to the minimum requirements, we are not liable for any problems in the application.

Note**: If you are using an outdated device, it is possible that Apple will no longer provide updates to the operating system. This means that your device cannot use the latest versions and is therefore no longer suitable for using Incontrol. In this case, it is best to look for another device to use Incontrol.
