Working with sections means that you can choose whether you want to show the section or not. How this works and what is possible is explained in this article.
The section
The different chapters of a form are called sections. These are the different pages present in the form (and possibly shown in the document's index). A section consists of one or more lines to which input and static elements can be added.
The whole section visibility can be set in different ways.
This option is useful, for example, if a section of a form is 'optional'. It can then easily be turned off so that the person filling out the form can move on to the next section.
How do I turn a section on or off?
- When you start a new form, by default one section is already created. Called 'Section' (chapter). Each new section you create is given the default name 'Section'. The name does not have to be unique.
- When you click a section in the menu, or have just created one, you can set the name of the section in the bar (see screenshot) of the section. Then go to the cog icon for the section's settings.
- When you press the cog icon you will get the following menu:
Under 'Visibility' you can set whether the section is visible while completing a 'Draft' and/or visible in the final 'Document'.
- The section enable/disable option is located at the visibility 'draft', by default a section is shown both in a draft and in the document. If you choose 'Hide in document', the user will see the section while filling in the draft, but the values will not be shown in the final document.
- If you want to see a section in the draft but not in the document you can choose to turn it off in 'Visibility (Document)' view.
Please note: You can only choose between 'Visible' or 'Hidden' in the document, because once in document view, no changes can be made. This can only be done in 'Draft view'.
- While filling in the draft, there is then the option for the user to either hide the section after all, or to show the hidden section. For this, the user can toggle a switch (see screenshot):
